Star Wars vs Harry Potter verse. This is one of the most frequently debated topics among people who love sci-fi and fantasy.
So far, that has happened only once in the classic DB, Luke Skywalker vs Harry Potter, where Harry lost...and I bought it. I mean, the shatterpoint exploiting Harry's scar? It was a legitimate reason for determining the winner.

However, a tendency that I noticed in most SW vs HP debates is that people tend to downplay HP...a LOT.

Whenever a topic comes up like, "SW vs HP?" people usually go about saying, "Dude, Star Wars stomps!" or "The force is waaaaaaaaay superior to such trifling spells."

Ehh......really?

I wouldn't say that the force is neccessarily superior to HP spells. I mean, HP spells allow for an incredible amount of diverse and unpredictable effects, such as manipulation of the elements and the environment, directly changing one thing into another (transfiguration) and they have many spells that could be potentially fatal. Imperius curses and cruciatus curses also can be used to great effect, and some spells, such as fiendfire, is an incredibly destructive force. While the force powers are of a bigger scale, HP spells could be seen as more diverse, versatile, and unpredictable.

Why do people continuously downplay HP spells? I find that quite irritating. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Star Wars and Harry Potter, but I honestly do believe that Luke only beat Harry in Death Battle due to shatterpoint. In that DB, it was never specifically stated that Luke had a continuous advantage over Harry; it only said that HP spells were adept at keeping the fight at a distance (Which you would clearly do if you saw someone holding a laser sword), and avoiding some force attacks (force choke, force persuasion, etc.) and that some HP spells would have been fatal. Due to that, I think Star Wars and Harry Potter verse is evenly matched.

Force speed? Apparition.

Telekinetic powers? Other HP spells can keep up with that relatively easily, such as conjuring water, fire, moving earth, banishing charms, etc...the list goes on.

Close quarters combat? Looking at the apparition techniques and the number of long range spells, the fight isn't likely to turn out into a H2H fight.

Force storm? The HP wizard could simply apparate far, far out of range. If the user goes on to obliterate the entire planet, the strain could kill the user, and unless they have a convenient spaceship nearby, I don't think they would be foolish enough to extend the force storm that far.

I'm not saying that Star Wars universe is weak. Far from it. (And Darth Vader's one of my favorite villains of all time) But people tend to downplay the HP verse a lot in SW vs HP debates, and I don't think that's a good thing.

But enough of my rambling. I said my opinions, and I want to hear yours. What do you guys think? Do you think SW stomps HP every single time? Or do you think a HP wizard has a good chance against a force user?

Some Jedi and Sith can annihilate entire planets' populations with the Force. HP characters are way out of their league.
